We Were Built on an Island.
Made to Move the World.
In the quiet hours of a small Bermuda office, a team came together, not to chase scale, but to solve problems. That was over 30 years ago. What began as a promise to our community has grown into a platform that powers trade, builds trust, and carries ambition across borders.

Our Beginning
Company Born Out of Necessity
Gateway Systems didn’t start with a slick pitch deck. It started with a problem and a group of people who cared enough to fix it.
In the early 1990s, Bermuda’s importers were stuck navigating slow, paper-based customs processes. It meant delays. It meant frustrated clients. And it meant opportunity. John Kyle and a small team began working nights and weekends, building custom software solutions that could make life easier for the businesses they knew by name.
There was no blueprint. Just a willingness to listen, a knack for solving complex problems, and a deep belief that technology should serve people, not the other way around. That mindset became our foundation.
And that first client relationship? It’s still going strong.

Our Philosophy
People First. Always.
Technology only matters if it works for the people using it.
We’ve seen a lot change over the past three decades, technology, trade, entire industries. But one thing hasn’t: our belief that the best solutions start with listening.
Every business we work with has its own challenges, its own pace, its own way of working. That’s why we never try to force a fit. Instead, we dig deep. We ask the right questions. And we build tools that feel like they were made just for you, because they were.
Whether we’re automating customs declarations or troubleshooting a server issue halfway around the world, our approach stays the same: be responsive, be reliable, be real.
Because at the end of the day, we’re not just solving technical problems. We’re helping people move their work forward, faster, easier, and with fewer headaches.
Technology only matters if it works for the people using it,” says CEO Daniel Reis Faria (centre). At Gateway, every solution starts with a conversation, grounded in listening, built for the real world.
Our Growth
From Bermuda to the World
What began as a local team serving businesses in Bermuda has grown into a global platform, one that now supports international customs processing, cross-border trade, and managed IT services around the clock.
We never set out to go global. We set out to do good work, and that work started to travel.
As word spread, so did the reach of our solutions. The ABC System, originally built to solve Bermuda’s customs bottlenecks, is now streamlining imports in Jamaica and drawing interest across the Caribbean and beyond. Our managed services team, once just a few desks in Hamilton, now works across time zones, providing 24/7 support to clients around the world.
But even as our footprint grows, our mindset stays close to home. We bring the same care, responsiveness, and long-haul commitment to every market we serve. Whether we’re working with a single-site importer or a multinational logistics company, we show up the same way: ready to listen, ready to solve, ready to build something better.
Our Team
Meet the People Behind the Platform
We’re a small team with a wide reach, based in Bermuda, the Netherlands, Canada, and beyond. Some of us have been here since the beginning. Others bring fresh energy, new ideas, and deep technical expertise. Together, we’ve built a culture of trust, ownership, and care, reflected in everything from long-term client relationships to CyberEssentials-certified systems.
This work doesn’t happen in the abstract. It happens in real conversations, late-night support calls, line-by-line code, and client relationships built over decades.
It’s John, whose quiet vision launched Gateway more than 30 years ago. It’s Kevin, who’s still solving complex integration problems most people don’t even see. It’s Ruben, leading a global IT team with calm precision. It’s Lorna, bringing focus and forward momentum to our next chapter. It’s Ryan, our logistics specialist, helping clients navigate complexity, streamline operations, and move goods more efficiently across borders.
And it’s everyone else, the engineers, strategists, client liaisons, and support staff, who make this work matter every day.
We may be spread across continents, but we operate as one team: solving problems, improving systems, and showing up for the people who rely on us.

The Road Ahead
Our Vision for What’s Next
As we grow into new markets and technologies, we stay guided by the same values we’ve had since day one: Listen. Solve. Support. Improve.
Gateway has always been about solving problems others overlook, and building systems that quietly power everything forward.
Now, we’re entering a new chapter. From Bermuda to the Caribbean and beyond, we’re expanding into new markets with purpose. We’re growing our ABC platform, strengthening our managed services, and partnering with customs agencies, logistics firms, and governments to help modernize the way trade works.
But as we grow, we’re not chasing scale for scale’s sake. We’re scaling with integrity. We’re still the team that stays on the call until the issue is resolved. Still the team that asks the right questions before offering a solution.
We’re here for the small teams with big ambitions. For the importers who don’t have time to wait. For the countries ready to take the next step forward.
Because we don’t just build software. We build trust.
We don’t just keep things running. We help you run better.
And we’re just getting started.
CEO Daniel Reis Faria shares Gateway’s vision for what’s next, scaling with integrity, expanding the ABC platform, and staying true to the values that built our foundation: listen, solve, support, improve.
